Nick built some alcove units for us in our period home. They consisted of cupboards on either side of the fireplace and shelving above on both sides. From the outset Nick was very helpful and encouraged us to consider things like dimensions, aesthetics (in terms of the most pleasing line for the shelving in comparison with other features in the room like the window sill or mantle piece) and finish. Things that we hadn’t really contemplated and needed some guidance on. Over the 2 days that Nick and his team worked at the house, they were polite, punctual and clean. They tidied up after themselves at the end of each day and took away all rubble when the job was complete. Nick made sure at each stage that we were happy and understood the processes he was going through. At one point we realised that we wanted the unit to be slightly deeper (despite Nick having already built the unit) and he made a suggestion which would allow that and made it happen. We were very happy with the result. As I then painted the units myself, I was very glad that Nick had made sure that there was very minimal filling to be done and the painting was relatively easy.
